Telling
Making Jesus' invisible kingdom visible... by TELLING the story of salvation
We live in a culture that rejects any notion of a "controlling story" that gives focus, shared purpose and meaning to life. The result is people with no sense of self, no definition, no identity. But the church is the messenger of Jesus' kingdom. We are called to spread the gospel word and deed. We have a Story to tell- a Story that is big enough to live in.
Historically, the way the church has chosen to tell the story of Jesus is in its corporate worship. In our worship we recite the story, we proclaim the story, we sing the story, we feast to the story, and we are called to live out the story. When the church gathers for worship, it gathers to retell and reenact the story of Jesus- his death and resurrection, his victory over the powers of darkness, and his place of power and authority over all the universe. In other words, worship trains us in a worldview.
Story-telling happens in worship in two ways:
1- liturgy (intentionally ordering our worship service to tell the story, not
just relying on the sermon)
2- the Church Calendar (celebrating and reenacting the story of Jesus
through the liturgical seasons)

Our GOAL- to tell the Story of salvation in Jesus so clearly and powerfully in our worship that we would begin to live into it as God's holy people.
