The Innocent Savior

Passage: Luke 23:32-47

Discussion Questions:

  1. Have you ever been the good guy mistaken for the bad guy? What does that feel like?
  2. Jesus couldn’t save us and save himself. When have you been faced with a similar choice (on a much smaller scale, of course!)? Jesus really had the power and authority to save Himself. Discuss how this makes his sacrifice even more wonderful.
  3. The Cross wasn’t an accident. “It was the will of the Lord to crush Him” (Isaiah 53:10). The Cross was the plan from the beginning. What does that reveal about God’s heart for his people?
  4. Jesus’ last words in life were “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” What is the meaning of that statement? How are his last words a summary of the way He lived his whole life?
  5. What cross has Jesus called you to? Where do you get the courage to take it up and follow him?
