Outline

I. RECEIVE THE SPIRIT 
We need the Spirit. The first Spirit imperative is: “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:22).

II. BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT 
We need the fullness of the Spirit. The second Spirit-imperative is: “be (being) filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18).

III. DO NOT QUENCH THE SPIRIT 
We need to guard the fullness of the Spirit. The third Spirit-imperative is: “Do not quench the Spirit of God” (1 Thess 5:19).

IV. WALK IN THE SPIRIT 
We need to walk with the Spirit. The fourth Spirit-imperative is: “Keep in step with the Spirit” (Gal 5:25).
