Outline
God is eternal. He has placed eternity in our hearts. We grasp for timelessness, trying to control our lives. Instead, we should learn to be present in the moment – trusting both the past and the future to God’s care. In order to do that we must be confident that the favor of the Lord is upon us and that He is establishing the work of our hands (Psalm 90:16). Jesus’ death for us on the Cross ensures God’s favor is upon us. His resurrection ensures we do not labor in vain.
I. GLORIFYING GOD – i.e. Adoration
God exists outside of time.
II. GRASPING FOR GODNESS – i.e. Sin
We (sinfully) grasp for timelessness in an attempt to control our lives.
III. GRACIOUS HUMAN-NESS – i.e. Embracing limits
“Redeeming the time” (Eph 5:15-16) means trusting the past and the future to God and fully occupying the present moment.
IV. GOSPEL – i.e. Power
Knowing the favor of the Lord is upon you is the key to being fully present.
