Outline
I. THE ROOT OF CONFLICT
External conflict (in your life) is a product of internal conflict (in your heart).
II. THE FRUIT OF PEACE
The peace of God comes from peace with God.
Quote
“He that hath peace can make peace… Sleeping his sleep, we shall awake in His rested energy, and treat the winds and waves as things subject to the power of faith, and therefore to be commanded into quiet… our calm shall work marvels in the little ships whereof others are captains. We, too, shall say, ‘Peace! Be still!’ Our confidence shall prove contagious, and the timid shall grow brave: our tender love shall spread itself, and the contentious shall cool down to patience. Only the matter must begin within ourselves. We cannot create calm till we are calm.” - C.H. Spurgeon
Discussion Questions
- Are you a peace-maker or a trouble-maker? What's the difference?
- External conflict (in your life) is the result of internal conflict (in your heart). Discuss this together. Are you able to connect relational conflict with your own epi-desires?
- The peace of God comes from peace with God. What does peace look like in/on a person? How can we know for sure that we have peace with God?
- What situation do you most need to speak peace into? Where might God be calling you to be a non-anxious leader for the sake of diffusing conflict?
