Discussion Questions

  1. There’s a popular saying: “Nothing good happens after _____.” Why do you think darkness is so often associated with danger, secrecy, fear, or foolishness? Where do you see that connection in Scripture?
  2. Jesus says, “I am the light of the world” in John 8:12. What does this title reveal about who Jesus is? How does Hebrews 1:3 deepen our understanding of Jesus as the “radiance of the glory of God”?
  3. John 3:19 says that people “loved the darkness rather than the light.” Why do we sometimes prefer hiding in darkness rather than coming into the light? What are some ways this shows up in everyday life?
  4. Read 1 John 1:5-9. What does it mean to “walk in the light”? How is walking in the light different from pretending we have no sin?
  5. Tim Keller says Jesus is “a Light for us when all other lights go out.” Where do you need the light of Christ right now- guidance, comfort, conviction, hope, or courage? What would it look like this week to “walk in the Light’?
